Here’s our interview with Nia Ray. Nia Ray is a R&B artist from Miami, Florida.
What’s your favorite part about making music? What are your goals within the music industry?: “I love the entire process of making music, but I think my favorite part is when I write a song that’s just really genuine, and then I’m able to send it to a friend and they’re like, “I just cried.” My goals are just to be heard and be successful. I don’t necessarily need to sign with a label or get a bunch of awards, but to be a household name and to have at least one of those songs that almost everyone knows because they’ve heard it on the radio a million times.”
Which artists have had an influence on your music? Who’s music would you compare yours to?: “I think my music has just been influenced by the music I listen to. I don’t keep anybody in mind when making music, but I am subconsciously influenced by the musical index I’ve created in my head. Aaliyah, Kehlani, Alicia Keys; I listen to a lot of R&B girls, old and new. I wouldn’t necessarily compare my music to anybody. There’s certain songs you can maybe compare to some of the artists I listed earlier, but I don’t think I would compare my music to one person.”
What are you working on right now? What should readers go listen to?: “Right now, I’m working on getting a few music videos done for songs from my project that I just dropped, “What’s Love Anyways.” It can be found on all music platforms.
