Interview with The Late Great Charlie Borski

Here’s our interview with The Late Great Charlie Borski. The Late Great Charlie Borski is a Theatrical Folk-Pop band based out of Los Angeles.

What’s your favorite part about making music? What are your goals within the music industry?: “Music is such a mysteriously powerful thing. I love how we’re able to take stories and emotions from our own lives, put it into music, and then have it effect people who don’t even know us. And, obviously the energy you get from a room when you’re onstage is wonderful but then, the connections you get to make after a show with fans and with fellow musicians make that high from the stage even sweeter. We’re really lucky to all get along so well, so even when we’re working our asses off it still feels like hanging out with your best friends. I would say that our ultimate goal is to get our music into the hands of as many people as possible. Also, making a comfortable living off of music would be ideal. So many people dream of that “rockstar” status, and not to say that we don’t have that as well, but just having a room full of people who have shown up to see us specifically at an indie music club wherever would be a pretty sweet victory in and of itself.”

Which artists have had an influence on your music? Who’s music would you compare yours to?: “We draw inspiration from all over the place and our musical taste has a lot of variety from member to member. There’s definitely a pretty heavy influence from old country/bluegrass and folk music in what we do. If you fused together The Avett Brothers, Modest Mouse, Hellogoodbye, Old Crow Medicine Show, Nathaniel Rateliff, Tyler Childers, and any musical by Stephen Sondheim, that would get you in the ballpark of what we sound like. Or maybe it wouldn’t sound anything like us at all. We try more than anything to make music that we love and that we think other people will love too.”

What are you working on right now? What should readers go listen to?: “We’ve recently had the pleasure of signing with Mannequin Vanity Records and are in the final stages of finishing our first full length album! Our first single with the label, “Let’s Hit the Road” will be available everywhere on December 4th with the 13 track album following in early 2021. We independently released our first EP called “Half a Mile From Normal” earlier this year and you can listen to that wherever you get your music. We’re on all the social medias as well but use Instagram the most so give us a follow there at @thelategreatcharlieborski and feel free to say hello! We’d love to chat!”
